Matt Bross leaves Huawei

Updated:2012/11/2 09:55

Huawei CTO Matt Bross has left the company to join Juniper Networks, it emerged on Thursday.

"Matt not only has been a key figure in Huawei technology advancements in the past three years, he also brought a business acumen that contributed significantly to Huawei's continuous pursuit of customer-centric innovation of products and solutions," said a spokesperson for the Chinese vendor, in a report by Light Reading. "We thank Matt for all of his contributions to Huawei and wish him well in the future."

A source cited in the report alleged that Bross has left to join Juniper Networks.

Former chief technology officer at BT, Bross left the U.K. incumbent to join Huawei in September 2009.

He was tasked with supporting the company's efforts to grow its sales in North America, an effort that could at best be described as an uphill struggle, in light of a report by the U.S. House Intelligence Committee that recently concluded Huawei and its cross-town rival ZTE represent a threat to national security.

Bross is Huawei's second high-profile departure in a month.

In October, former Nortel Networks CTO John Roese, who had been head of Huawei's North American research and development unit, Futurewei, joined data storage giant EMC.
