China Mobile Henan Completes World's First Call with Interactive UE Logos

In a pioneering move, China Mobile Group Henan Company Limited (China Mobile Henan) and Huawei have successfully connected the world's first call featuring interactive UE logos from end to end on a live network. This milestone heralds the new era of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) Experience Monetization 2.0, setting a new standard for commercializing network capabilities and redefining user experiences.

This step forward in China's communications technology was achieved through the innovative construction of an ICT intelligent, collaborative architecture encompassing "the intelligent core network, wireless network, devices, and operations system." This architecture dismantles the limitations of single-domain awareness and service capabilities. By ensuring collaboration and seamless integration across the network, device, and service domains, it fosters a new paradigm of technological and business innovation. In other words, it is reshaping how technology evolves and how organizations collaborate across the entire industry chain. China Mobile Henan's successful implementation of the interactive UE logo solutionfor Experience Monetization 2.0 marks a critical shift in communications technology, business, and organizational collaboration. It signifies the unprecedented transition of the communications industry from a pipe-oriented model to an experience-driven one.

Interactive UE logos are a cornerstone of Experience Monetization 2.0, sparking technological innovation across IT, CT, and devices. On the core network, the introduction of the UE Management PCF (UM-PCF) as a new industry-standard intelligent network function (NF) integrates the operator's basic network capabilities to creatively streamline the real-time message channel between the network and service domains. On the wireless network, an innovative spectrum scheduling management algorithm, coupled with intelligent policy delivery from the core network, provides differentiated pipe bandwidth capabilities. In the service operations system, a dedicated 5G-A operations module offers a visualized interface for network awareness and service assurance. On devices, an interactive entry is integrated to visualize network capabilities, enabling users to engage with high-performance network services in real time. These technology innovations and convergences across domains unlock network and service data for users, revitalizing user channels and experiences through the interactive UE logo entry. By making services "visible, accessible, and good to use," they empower users and allow the operator to build an open and unique intelligent network service system.

Visible to Users: China Mobile Henan has partnered with Huawei's core network and device teams to create the world's first interactive UE logo entry. Users can identify their serving network through a fixed entry identifier displayed in the notification center, by swiping down from the top-left corner of a Huawei device screen. Additionally, a dynamic entry identifier is visible in the live view window of the Huawei device ecosystem, allowing users to easily be aware of network status updates.

Accessible to Users: By aligning with industry trends and prioritizing user experiences, China Mobile Henan has strategically upgraded experience monetization. Its innovative, interactive design makes network service capabilities as accessible and intuitive as items on a shelf, allowing users to effortlessly view and manage basic plans, benefits, and add-ons anytime, anywhere. Such continuous innovation in interaction and awareness channels is redefining user engagement and leading industry development.

Good to Use: Service policies can be dynamically tailored via real-time awareness of network capabilities to meet specific requirements. By integrating an intelligent NF into the core network, China Mobile Henan delivers intelligent services and assurance in scenarios like conferencing, video streaming, live broadcasting, and gaming across diverse environments, such as high-speed railways, stadiums, and scenic spots. These innovations make sure users consistently receive the perfect experience, right when they need it.

To efficiently upgrade experience monetization, China Mobile Henan and Huawei have formed a high-level task force. This team brings together China Mobile Henan's seven core departments and Huawei's five major product divisions: Core Network, Wireless Network, Device, HiSilicon, and Software. It creates a collaborative framework that is cross-organizational, multi-layered, and process-wide. The project is led by the operator's Planning and Technology Department, with deep involvement from the Marketing Department. The network evolution roadmap and implementation plan are determined by this cross-department collaboration. Using cross-domain synergy, the interactive UE logo feature integrates seamlessly with next-generation device models, ensuring a closed-loop implementation from network to device. This project leads collaborative development and fosters the sustained maturation of the industry ecosystem. Throughout the project, the team prioritizes efficient collaboration, clarifies ownership across phases, and pins key milestones. It aims to set an industry standard anchoring progress in both service upgrades and product innovation. This approach offers a replicable and practical model for guiding China's communications sector towards experience monetization.
