Last year, China has proposed the new goal of "upgrading both fixed broadband and mobile broadband to gigabit level", as well as "deploying gigabit optical network in cities". Currently, over 300 cities in China have had access to gigabit broadband, benefiting more than 80 million households, which is a significant achievement of Internet development, said Wen Ku, director of MIIT's Department of Information and Communication Development.
He suggested that China should seize the opportunity of IPv6 by making full use of IPv6's vast address resource and fostering innovative practices of IPv6 in gigabit scenarios.
