Recently, Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Unicom, said that since 5G was licensed, China Unicom has deeply recognized its unprecedented political significance. As a basic national communications operator, China Unicom should focus on the overall situation and strengthen coordination to maximize political, economic, and social benefits.

According to Wang Xiaochu, as of March 5th, China Unicom has opened approximately 66,000 base stations, of which 43,000 were established by itself and 23,000 were shared by China Telecom. The two parties have jointly opened 50,000 base stations, basically achieving the grid-connected goal of the first stage. Up to now, it is estimated that the two parties have saved a total of about 10 billion yuan in investment costs.
