Ericsson rules LTE 4G revenue market, followed by Alcatel-Lucent, NSN

Updated:2012/8/17 09:03

Ericsson leads the LTE market with number one spot in LTE revenue share, followed by Alcatel-Lucent at the second spot.

Acording to a report by Dell'Oro Group, Nokia Siemens Networks surpassed Huawei to become the number 3 vendor.

Samsung held the number 5 position in the combined FDD/TDD LTE market.

Huawei and ZTE continued to lead the LTE TDD market.

Global LTE RAN revenues more than tripled in the second quarter of 2012, as compared with the same period of 2011.

The report reveals that more than 85 commercial LTE networks were established at the end of 2Q12, with a fourfold increase against the second quarter of 2011.

At the end of 2Q12, 28 million LTE subscriptions were recorded, up 70 percent sequentially. The report says that LTE TDD accounted for 9 percent of total LTE revenues

The report also shows that the gains in LTE are not yet offsetting slower 2G/3G spending. The total Mobile RAN market declined 18 percent in 2Q12.

Stefan Pongratz, senior analyst at Dell'Oro Group said that LTE continued to be the bright spot for the infrastructure vendors as operators slowed down their 2G/3G investments. It is basically the only technology that grew in the second quarter.

LTE revenue share from regions outside of North America increased more than six percentage points in 2Q12.

Pongratz added that there are signs that LTE revenues are starting to materialize in other parts of the world, while the North American and South Korean operators are deploying LTE at full speed.
