Hengtong Optic-electric Unveils A Range of Cutting-edge Optical Fibers

Driven by AI, large-scale data center construction is in full swing, and various innovative technologies supporting high-speed interconnection of data centers have attracted significant attention from the industry. In recent years, new types of optical fibers represented by hollow-core optical fibers have become a key focus of the industry. Overseas cloud companies have already explored their applications, while domestic telecommunications operators have successively launched the construction of test networks based on hollow-core optical fibers.

At the 2025 China International Information and Communication Exhibition, which opened on September 24th, the independently developed hollow-core optical fiber products of Hengtong Optic-electric were displayed in the core area of the booth, attracting industry insiders to visit, communicate and discuss cooperation.

Concurrent with the exhibition, Hengtong Optic-electric held its 2025 New Product Launch Conference and officially released a variety of cutting-edge optical fiber new products. Zhang Yaohui, Vice President of Hengtong Communication Research Institute, introduced that the entire process of Hengtong Optic-electric's hollow-core optical fibers, from design and manufacturing to fusion splicing, is independently controllable, with multiple preparation patents applied for.

Focusing on the optical fiber level, Zhang Yaohui launched two types of hollow-core optical fibers: single-nested hollow-core optical fibers and double-nested hollow-core optical fibers. Among them, the double-nested hollow-core optical fibers have four major characteristics: "differentiated geometric size design, ultra-low loss and attenuation level, fully independent high-purity quartz tubes, and low-loss transmission in ultra-wide wavebands". Currently, Hengtong Optic-electric is further optimizing the attenuation indicators of hollow-core optical fibers to better meet future market demands.

Zhang Yaohui also released ultra-low loss large effective area multi-core optical fibers, whose performance indicators have also reached the world's top level: for example, the ultra-low loss 4-core large effective area optical fiber. Hengtong Optic-electric has reduced the cladding diameter to the level of conventional communication optical fibers, expanded the mode field diameter to be consistent with G.654, and strictly controlled the low crosstalk level. In addition, the multi-core optical fiber bundle, targeting high-density on-chip optical interconnection in data centers, has a pre-developed 61-core optical fiber sample.

Hengtong Optic-electric has performed outstandingly in aspects such as the rod-fiber-cable integration of conventional optical fibers and the G.654.E optical fibers used in backbone networks. It has taken the lead in mastering the core technology of green optical rod preparation in China, built the world's largest R&D and industrialization base for green optical rods, and successfully realized the domestic substitution of high-end optical rod products.

Moreover, Hengtong Optic-electric has also launched 400G/800G high-speed optical modules, inter-data center interconnection and data center pre-connection solutions, as well as the liquid cooling · Qizhi all-dimensional solution, achieving a multi-dimensional layout of AI computing power products. The release of a variety of cutting-edge optical fibers has further enriched Hengtong Optic-electric's product portfolio for the AI era and built a more robust information infrastructure.
