MediaTek announced the rollout of its first 5G single chip TJ 1000 (or MT6885 known within the company) on November 26 and is now offering quotes to clients. The price was estimated to be USD 50, staggeringly high for the market. However, MediaTek quoted a whopping price of USD 70 for TJ 1,000, thanks to the limited supply of 5G chips on the market.
Also, words have it that the hi-fi MT6889 of the same series is sold between USD 70 and 80, 4 to 5 times higher than that of most 4G chips that are sold between USD 10 and 12.
