On August 27, the Shandong Provincial Government Information Office held a press conference to introduce the progress in accelerating the construction of a strong digital province and enabling high-quality development through digitalization in Shandong.
Shandong's digital industry has seen comprehensive expansion and quality improvement, with growth rates ranking among the highest in the country. In the first half of 2024, the province's information technology industry revenue reached 980.92 billion yuan, a 14.9% year-on-year increase. From January to July this year, 950 key monitored big data enterprises in the province achieved a business revenue of 142.08 billion yuan, a 34.8% year-on-year increase. The digitalization of the industry is also enhancing its capacity. The province has implemented 7,879 technological transformation projects with an investment of over 5 million yuan each. The "Industry Empowerment Shandong" initiative has been deepened, currently gathering over 500 service providers to offer transformation services to more than 6,000 enterprises.
The construction of new smart cities is being comprehensively promoted, with over 87.5% of prefecture-level cities and over 38.5% of counties (cities, districts) meeting the four-star or higher standards for new smart cities. A total of 2,578 basic and growing smart communities have been built. Digital convenience applications are flourishing in many areas, with accelerated construction of smart education, smart healthcare, digital human resources, smart transportation, and other public services, continuously enhancing the level of digital public services. In terms of smart education, the integration of educational cloud networks is being promoted, connecting 139 higher education institutions' campus networks and launching the Shandong Province K-12 Smart Education Platform. In smart healthcare, 94.7379 million people have activated their provincial medical insurance codes, covering 41,432 designated pharmacies and 25,118 designated medical institutions, with 524 million transactions made using the medical insurance code. Fifteen cities in our province have been selected among the national top 100 digital cities, leading the country in the number of cities listed.
Digital infrastructure continues to upgrade, with further optimization of network layout. Following the full-scale production at the two national-level backbone internet direct connection points in Jinan and Qingdao, Qingdao has officially been approved to build an international communication business exit bureau. The province has built a total of 224,000 5G base stations, with 5G users surpassing 60 million, ranking third in the country. Gigabit users exceeded 14 million, ranking second in the country, and IoT terminal users reached nearly 256 million, with terminal access traffic ranking first in the country. The province's computing power level has further improved, with the total intelligent computing power of data centers reaching 3.3 Eflops, a 12.4% increase compared to the end of 2023. The proportion of intelligent computing power has reached 30%, completing the annual development target for 2024 ahead of schedule.
