The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) recently released its operational analysis report for China's domestic mobile phone market in October 2025. In the month, domestic mobile phone shipments totaled 32.267 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.7%. Among these, shipments of 5G mobile phones reached 29.326 million units, a year-on-year growth of 9.7%, accounting for 90.9% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period.
From January to October 2025, cumulative domestic mobile phone shipments reached 252 million units, reflecting a slight year-on-year increase of 0.8%. Among these, shipments of 5G phones amounted to 217 million units, a year-on-year growth of 1.3%, comprising 86.0% of the total mobile phone shipments for the period.
In October 2025, a total of 45 new mobile phone models were launched on the domestic market, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. Among these new models, 19 were 5G phones, representing a year-on-year decrease of 26.9%, which constituted 42.2% of the new models launched during the same period.
From January to October 2025, 443 new mobile phone models were launched on the domestic market, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.4%. Among these, 199 were 5G phones, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%, accounting for 44.9% of the new models launched during the period.
In October 2025, shipments of domestic brand mobile phones reached 25.24 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%, accounting for 78.2% of the total mobile phone shipments for the period. New domestic brand model launches totaled 43, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, representing 95.6% of the new models launched during the same period.
From January to October 2025, cumulative shipments of domestic brand mobile phones reached 218 million units, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, accounting for 86.4% of the total mobile phone shipments for the period. New domestic brand model launches totaled 421, a year-on-year increase of 20.6%, representing 95.0% of the new models launched during the period.
In October 2025, shipments of smartphones reached 31.356 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%, accounting for 97.2% of the total mobile phone shipments for the period. New smartphone model launches totaled 26, a year-on-year decrease of 21.2%, representing 57.8% of the new models launched during the same period.
From January to October 2025, cumulative shipments of smartphones reached 233 million units, a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.3%, accounting for 92.5% of the total mobile phone shipments for the period. New smartphone model launches totaled 285, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%, representing 64.3% of the new models launched during the period.
