Updated:2023/7/17 18:41

Huawei held its annual flagship event, the "Bridging Horizons of Innovations - 2023 Innovation and Intellectual Property Forum," in Shenzhen. Song Liuping, Chief Legal Officer of Huawei, stated during the event, "Huawei is willing to share its innovative achievements with the world through patents, supporting sustainable development across global industries and sectors."

Huawei is committed to following the principles of fairness, reasonableness, and non-discrimination (FRAND) in its standard-essential patent licensing. During the forum, Huawei announced the patent licensing rates for its 4G and 5G smartphones, Wi-Fi 6 devices, and Internet of Things (IoT) products.

It is reported that Huawei has set the maximum licensing rates for 4G and 5G smartphones at 1.5 and 2.5 per unit, respectively. The licensing rate for Wi-Fi 6 consumer devices is set at 0.5 per unit. For devices centered around IoT technology, Huawei has set the licensing rate no more than 0.75 per unit. As for devices enhanced by IoT connectivity, the licensing rate ranges from 0.3 to 1 per unit.

To date, Huawei has signed nearly 200 bilateral licensing agreements. Additionally, over 350 companies have obtained Huawei patent licenses through patent pools. The cumulative patent licensing fees paid by Huawei in its history are approximately three times the licensing revenue received. In 2022, Huawei's patent licensing revenue amounted to $560 million.
