Huawei Officially Launches Foldable Screen HarmonyOS Computer

Updated:2025/5/20 17:11

On May 19th, during the launch event for the nova 14 series and the latest HarmonyOS computers, Huawei introduced two new HarmonyOS computer models: the Huawei MateBook Pro and the HUAWEI MateBook Fold Extraordinary Master. The latter marks Huawei's first foldable computer running on HarmonyOS and is the world's largest foldable screen computer at 18 inches.

Since the HarmonyOS computer technology briefing on May 8th, over 150 dedicated computer ecosystem applications have been rapidly optimized for the system. Richard Yu, Huawei's Executive Director and CEO of the Consumer Business Group, stated during a speech at the event, “In just a few days, the number of integrated applications has surged from over 300 to more than 1,000, more than doubling, with the adaptation process progressing very quickly.” Huawei anticipates that by the end of the year, HarmonyOS computers will support over 2,000 integrated ecosystem applications.

Five years ago, Huawei began investing in the development of HarmonyOS computers, dedicating over 10,000 engineers to the project, which has resulted in the accumulation of more than 2,700 patents.

According to the latest updates shared at the event, HarmonyOS computer applications now cover key user scenarios such as general office work, design and creation, utility tools, finance and investment, media and entertainment, education and learning, and gaming. Applications like Feishu, Xiaohongshu, Bilibili, ZWCAD, Meitu, and WPS have already been adapted for HarmonyOS computers.

Richard Yu also demonstrated some of the proprietary technologies of HarmonyOS computers at the event. For example, in terms of cross-device interaction, leveraging the distributed soft bus technology, HarmonyOS computers support keyboard and mouse sharing across phones, computers, and tablets, and can enable cross-device communication, application continuity, and Huawei Share connectivity features.

Yu expressed, “The foundation for the domestic software ecosystem is weak, but we persist in doing what is difficult yet right. HarmonyOS computers are just beginning and still need to grow, but HarmonyOS is destined to become a vigorous force that changes the world, with every line of code rewriting the future of China's computer industry.”
