Updated:2019/1/25 22:48

Huawei unveils its Balong 5000 chipset ahead of this year's Mobile World Congress.

CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, says it is the world's first single-chip multi-mode modem that supports 3G, 4G, and 5G, and with higher energy efficiency, better performance and shorter latency. It is made with finer technologies including 7nm manufacturing process. It supports both Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) 5G network architectures, and TDD/FDD, making it the chipset that covers the broadest bandwidth in the industry. Balong 5000 can achieve download speeds up to 6.5 Gbps on mmWave spectrum - 10 times faster than 4G LTE speeds and 2 times faster than its competitors. It is also the world's first 5G chipset to support R14 V2X.

Moreover, Huawei will provide 5G solution for mobile phones with a ‘Balong 5000 + Kirin 980’ architecture.
