China Telecom has wrapped up bid evaluation for a 2026 project to build a homegrown 10,000-GPU intelligent computing pool at its Southern Base in Guangdong, according to the carrier's procurement platform. Alibaba Cloud Computing and Shanghai Jiliuguanglian Communication Technology made the shortlist.
Alibaba Cloud Computing was named the top candidate with a bid of RMB 216,247,600 including tax, or RMB 191,871,969.12 excluding tax.
Shanghai Jiliuguanglian Communication Technology was named the second candidate with a bid of RMB 221,002,680 including tax, or RMB 197,436,000 excluding tax.
The contract covers hardware, software, software integration services, and operation and maintenance for both hardware and software at the Southern Base facility.
China Telecom has been ramping up its intelligent computing buildout in recent years, establishing four fully homegrown 10,000-GPU computing clusters across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, rolling out industry computing nodes in more than 300 key cities, and growing its combined self-owned and connected intelligent computing capacity to over 118.8 EFLOPS.
