On October 22, China Unicom released its report for the third quarter of 2024. The report showed that revenue for the first three quarters was 290.12 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 3.0%. Net profit reached 19.03 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 10.3%, maintaining double-digit growth.
In terms of users, the number of mobile users reached 345 million, with a net increase of 11.23 million users since the end of last year, setting a new six-year high for the same period. Among them, 5G package users numbered 286 million, with a penetration rate of 83%.
The number of IoT connections reached 594 million, with a net increase of nearly 100 million since the end of last year. Fixed-line broadband users reached 121 million, with a net increase of 7.12 million since the end of last year, maintaining a good growth trend.
By business segment, Unicom Cloud's revenue was 43.86 billion yuan in the first three quarters, up 19.5% year-on-year. Data center business revenue was 19.69 billion yuan, growing 6.8% year-on-year. The cumulative number of 5G industry virtual private network customers reached 14,013.
By network, there were 1.36 million 5G mid-band base stations and over 2 million shared 4G mid-band base stations. China Unicom is developing its high-throughput, high-performance, and intelligent AINet, and building large-scale intelligent computing centers in locations such as Lingang in Shanghai and Hohhot, ensuring comprehensive coverage of key nodes in the East-to-West Computing Project.
