Recently, the People's Government of Shanxi Provincial issued three major measures to guarantee the electricity supply for 5G base stations:
First, to encourage fundamental telecom enterprises to build and operate 5G base stations. From 2020 to 2022, for 5G base stations participating in market transactions, if their actually paid electricity price exceeds the target price of 0.35 yuan per kilowatt-hour, the amount over the target price will be subsidized by provinces, cities and counties (districts) at the ratio of 5:2:3.
Second, to support fundamental telecom enterprises in smart meters reengineering of base stations, and to calculate electricity consumption based on power supply standard of cities.
Third, to support transformation in power supply mode of base station from transferring power supply to direct power supply. At the same time, to make it clear that the provincial market supervision bureau should investigate electricity price mark-ups and electricity related additional charges on 5G base stations.
