Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering: 5G New Infrastructure Faces Five Major Challenges

Updated:2020/4/29 21:02

Recently, Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said, "new infrastructure is both construction work and a continuation of technological innovation in terms of 5G in China, and it is a real test of China's 5G leadership." Wu Hequan pointed out that 5G new infrastructure would bring five major challenges, i.e. technology, operation and maintenance, products, market, as well as security maturity.

China's 5G has been officially commercial for less than half a year, and the main highlight is only broadband mobile access. Moreover, China's 5G has not yet been fully tested in the aspects of large traffic, large connection, high reliability and low delay.

Wu Hequan said that since there is large investment pressure in the early stage of 5G construction, it is difficult to gain the return on investment if the mobile communications network and users cannot reach a scale. 5G new infrastructure not only requires carriers to assume responsibilities, but also needs the joint efforts of all parties in the industrial chain, as well as the strong support of government policies.
