China Telecom Leads 5G Super Uplink 3GPP Global Standard to Complete in March 2020

Updated:2019/11/29 23:08

From November 18 to 22 local time, the 3GPP working group meeting was held in Reno, the United States. A breakthrough in the super uplink standard has been made: the standard impact of super uplink in 3GPP RAN1, RAN2 and RAN4 working groups has been confirmed, and the standard document is expected to be completed in March 2020.

This August, China Telecom submitted a proposal of super uplink technology to 3GPP, as the first step for the international standard work. In September, super uplink was officially included in the project of 3GPP Release 16, where the standard scope, technical route, and working plan were defined. In November, it was confirmed that China Telecom would lead the development of a 5G super uplink 3GPP international standard.

It is reported that China Telecom took the lead in all aspects of the international standard formulation of 5G super uplink in 3GPP, including acting as the reporter of work, hosting and guiding the official technical discussion, and leading the standard writing.

Up to now, in the super uplink field, China Telecom has applied for 19 invention patents and contributed 90% of the total number of 3GPP proposals after submission and approval.
