On April 26, Institute of Care-life announced upon the 10th anniversary of the sending of the first early earthquake warning (EEW) message in China, Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO and vivo, four major domestic mobile phone giants, all began to provide earthquake warning service with their products, extending mobile phone and TV EEW to the whole nation and finally covering the “last tough kilometer” in the delivery of disaster warning information within seconds for billions of users.
According to experts, embedding the EEW function into the operating system would enable users to receive EEW messages without installing any APPs, marking an innovative breakthrough in the disaster waring industry. The technology would transmit EEW information as the highest priority to minimize communication latency and reserve more time for life.
