China Mobile held an AI Ecosystem Conference during the 9th Digital China Summit on April 29.
In his address, China Mobile Chairman Chen Zhongyue stated that the company is driving the integration of AI into its operations and management to improve quality and efficiency. He emphasized embedding AI into the company’s strategic planning, organizational structure, and business processes, promoting its application in areas such as network authentication, R&D and design, marketing services, and comprehensive management. The company has deployed over 80,000 digital and intelligent employees, effectively enhancing operational efficiency and performance.
The launch of these 80,000 digital employees will not lead to mass unemployment, but will accelerate job restructuring. Rather than taking away jobs, China Mobile’s digital workforce is set to drive industry upgrades—disrupting low-skilled roles in the short term while creating more high-value positions in the long run.
