On June 15, China Mobile announced a major upgrade to traditional voice calling, aiming to provide users with an enhanced calling experience featuring "high definition, intelligence, and security."
According to the company, the upgrade service will be gradually rolled out to China Mobile users starting from June (with specific provincial launch dates subject to network upgrade progress). The service is offered at no additional cost, and after the free upgrade, users will be able to directly access a range of smart features during calls, with the option to enable or disable functions as they wish. The upgraded service will sequentially introduce features such as call captioning, visual call menus, 1080P HD video calling, AI-powered fraud prevention, multiparty calling, DC functionality, and noise reduction calling (for some users). It is important to note that the performance of these features may be affected by network conditions, terminal devices, and call environments, and actual user experience will depend on device models and system compatibility.
Once the upgrade service goes live, users can search for "Call Upgrade Service" in the China Mobile APP, enter the upgrade page, click the "Upgrade Now" button, and follow the prompts to complete identity verification and activate the service. After a successful upgrade, new feature entries will automatically appear in the call interface, and users can enable or disable various smart services in the settings at their convenience.
