On May 8, Huawei hosted the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Conference in Shenzhen, where the first "HarmonyOS Computer" was officially unveiled. This marks a significant step forward for domestic operating systems in the personal computer industry. Zhu Dongdong, President of Huawei Consumer Business Group's Tablet and PC Product Line, announced that Huawei has fully entered the "HarmonyOS era," with Huawei Smart Office upgraded to HarmonyOS Office.
The HarmonyOS Computer, the result of five years of planning, involves a team of 10,000 top engineers and collaborations with over 20 research institutes, accumulating more than 2,700 core patents. The computer runs on HarmonyOS 5, featuring the Harmony kernel and leveraging distributed soft bus technology. This enables a natural, seamless, and intuitive cross-device interconnection experience, allowing shared keyboard and mouse functionality across Huawei phones, computers, and tablets.
In terms of application ecosystem, more than 300 integrated ecosystem applications have been adapted for the HarmonyOS Computer, with expectations to exceed 2,000 applications by the end of the year. Regarding device compatibility, the HarmonyOS Computer already supports connections with over 1,000 external devices, including more than 800 standard peripherals across 20 categories such as keyboards, mice, and monitors. Additionally, it supports over 250 non-standard peripherals, covering printers, graphic tablets, scanners, and more.
As of now, the HarmonyOS ecosystem has surpassed 1 billion devices, with 7.2 million registered developers and over 110 million lines of code. HarmonyOS has achieved self-reliance across various aspects, from operating system kernels and file systems to programming languages and large models.
