According to official information from the China Mobile Research Institute, the "Pofeng 8676" chip, a core independent innovation achievement of China Mobile, has accumulated sales of over 100,000 units since its launch. It has been deployed in multiple provinces across China as well as in some countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
As the only commercially available reconfigurable 5G RF transceiver chip in China, the "Pofeng 8676" can be widely applied in the critical chips of 5G network core equipment. It has achieved a breakthrough from zero to one, filling the domestic gap in this field and effectively enhancing the autonomy and control of China's 5G network core equipment.
To accelerate the process of transitioning the "Pofeng 8676" chip from "development" to "application," the China Mobile Research Institute has teamed up with upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain. They are conducting integrated research and development for various base station types, including expanded pico base stations, (dual-band) high-power repeaters, low-power repeaters, high-power integrated stations, and home stations. They have tackled core challenges such as power enhancement, dual-band concurrency, high flatness, and low-cost design. The chip has been integrated into over 30 models of equipment from 14 manufacturers, with more than 20 models already having commercial capabilities.
