The Alibaba DAMO Academy recently announced its initiative to formally launch XG Laboratory, which is dedicated to promoting the research on next generation network communication technology. Concentrated efforts are spent on the collaborative research and development of 5G technology and application at the current stage.
According to the Alibaba DAMO Academy, the newly-established XG laboratory will focus on collaborative innovation of 5G infrastructure technology and applications, according to dharma by relying on the thriving application ecology of Alibaba. It is committed to develop video codec technology and network transmission protocol in line with the 5G era for such scenarios as UHD video, online office, AR/VR, industrial Internet, intelligent logistics, self-driving, whereby relevant standards will be formulated.
