China Mobile's financial report shows that in the first half of year, its operating revenue fell 0.6% year over year to CNY 389.4 billion, wherein its communication service revenue dropped 1.3% year over year to CNY 351.4 billion; its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 3.6% year over year to CNY 151.1 billion; its EBITDA margin rose 1.6% year over year to 38.8%; its profit attributable to shareholders was CNY 56.1 billion and earnings per share (EPS) declined 14.6% year over year to CNY 2.74.
According to China Mobile, as the traditional communication market is approaching saturation and losing its advantage of traffic, it is not sustainable to drive performance growth simply by traditional factor input. As a result, the industry sees a negative growth overall and companies herein are also under huge revenue and profit pressure.
