According to a report from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Industry and Information Technology Work Conference was held in Beijing from December 26 to 27.
The conference mentioned that in 2024, the high-quality development of the information and communication industry will be steadily promoted, with more than 4.19 million 5G base stations built and operational, and over 200 million gigabit broadband access users, achieving "5G access in every township." For the whole year, the total volume of telecommunications services and the revenue of the software and information technology service industry are expected to grow by approximately 11% year-on-year.
The conference emphasized that in 2025, efforts should focus on high-quality development, emphasizing key areas, and ensuring solid progress in all tasks. This includes:
Promoting the deep integration of informatization and industrialization. Exploring the establishment of mechanisms for the circulation and trading of industrial data. Adhering to coordinated development across "points, lines, and areas," accelerating the full digital transformation of large-scale industrial enterprises and specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, formulating digital transformation guidelines for key industries with a "one industry, one policy" approach, and constructing 200 high-standard digital parks over three years. Establishing a batch of digital transformation promotion centers for the manufacturing industry, categorized by industry and region. Promoting the construction of industrial 5G independent private networks and expanding a multi-level systematic industrial internet platform system. Implementing the "Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing" initiative, enhancing the research and deployment of general and industry-specific models and their applications in key scenarios. Advancing the entire chain of foundational software, industrial software technology breakthroughs, and application of results, and accelerating the construction of an advanced computing industry system.
Promoting the high-quality development of the information and communication industry. Improving policies and measures for "dual gigabit" network development, piloting the deployment of 10-gigabit optical networks, and striving to build over 4.5 million 5G base stations in total. Optimizing the construction layout of computing power centers in an orderly manner and accelerating network upgrades to "integrate computing into the network." Promoting the evolution of 5G and the innovative development of 6G technology. Strengthening the management of internet fundamental resources and improving the long-term governance mechanism for the entire chain of apps. Enhancing the technological innovation capability of radio frequency spectrum and the development and utilization level of spectrum resources. Strengthening data security management in segmented industry fields and promoting the innovative development of the network and data security industry. Enhancing emergency communication support capabilities for extreme scenarios.
