Speaking at the 2026 Mobile Network Conference on November 6, China Mobile's chairman said the company plans to further ramp up procurement in 2027, with total spending expected to exceed 500 billion yuan — including more than 100 billion yuan for computing power and over 100 billion yuan for terminal procurement and sales.
Chen Zhongyue said computing power represents the biggest growth area in China Mobile's investment. Having already built multiple 10,000-card computing clusters, the company is now developing a number of hyperscale intelligent computing clusters, with its intelligent computing capacity set to double in each of the next two years. "This year we began construction on three gigawatt-level intelligent computing parks, and we will build two more next year, bringing the total to seven," he said.
China Mobile will also work to connect computing resources into a unified network — expanding 400G OTN capacity, linking national computing hubs and various computing resources, stepping up the use of hollow-core fiber, and accelerating CDN expansion and upgrades. The goal is smoother access to computing, more efficient interconnection between computing resources, and more agile edge distribution. The company will also upgrade its computing-network brain to enable grid integration and unified scheduling of computing power, precisely matching supply with demand.
