Microsoft sued Hon Hai for a patent infringement in the US. It required Hon Hai to pay it patent royalties and corresponding interests.
Regarding this lawsuit, Terry Gou, the Chairman of Hon Hai, pointed out that Microsoft aims to claim patent royalties from Huawei for the use of Android. However, Microsoft is afraid that it will suffer an intense lawsuit counterattack from Huawei and Chinese netizens will resist its products. That’s why Microsoft chose a “weaker” target in Taiwan.
Terry Gou stressed that Microsoft should charge Google patent royalties for Android authorization. Obviously, charging a Chinese manufacturer is actually a behavior of fishing in troubled waters.
