After months of ongoing attention and anticipation, HarmonyOS of Huawei finally came out officially on Huawei Developer Conference 2019. Huawei Honor Smart Screen TV will be the first product to be equipped with HarmonyOS.
According to Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong, the Chinese name of HarmonyOS, Hongmeng, implies the dawn of history. Harmony OS is the world’s first microkernel-based all-scenario distributed operating system. In the future, with its lightweightness, compactness, and powerful functions, HarmonyOS will take the lead on smart terminals including smartwatches, smart screens, in-vehicle devices, smart speakers, etc., and strive to build a cross-terminal integration and sharing ecology to redefine a new safe and reliable operating environment, thus creating the new all-scenario experience of smart life for consumers.
“Can HarmonyOS be applied on mobile phones? The answer is yes, and anytime. However, since we support the Android ecosystem of Google, we will give priority to Android. If we cannot use Android, we will enable our own operating system. In addition, with the Ark Compiler, it will be very easy for us to migrate from Android’s ecology to that of HarmonyOS’.” Yu clarified.
