China Mobile recently released its annual performance forecast for 2023. In 2023, China Mobile's operating revenue reached RMB 1,009.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%. Among them, communication service revenue reached RMB 863.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. Shareholders' net profit was RMB 131.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%.
At a subsequent performance briefing, Yang Jie, Chairman of China Mobile, stated that 5G-A is the process that needs to be experienced in the transition to 6G. "There are three major characteristics of investment and deployment in 5G, including high speed, low latency, and large connectivity. 6G will further enhance these three characteristics and add three more, namely, integration of sensing, integration of intelligence, and integration of the sky and the earth."
Yang Jie further stated that China Mobile will deploy 5G-A in more than 300 cities this year, with an expected investment of RMB 1.5 billion. "The investment in 5G-A will not increase significantly because it is built on the foundation of 5G, not a complete overhaul."
