According to a recent announcement by the Radio Administration Bureau, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has permitted China Mobile to refarm frequency resources below 3000MHz, which were previously used for 2G/3G/4G systems, for concurrent use in 5G public mobile communication systems.
Frequency resources below 3000MHz have characteristics such as low radio wave propagation loss, long signal transmission distance, and low network deployment cost, making them the main frequency bands for international public mobile communications. This permission for China Mobile to conduct frequency refarming effectively revitalizes existing resources and is beneficial for improving 5G network coverage and communication capacity in rural and remote areas. It better meets the high-speed, low-latency, and large-connection communication needs of industry applications like the industrial internet, IoT, and vehicle networks, thereby promoting the high-quality development of China's 5G industry and contributing to the construction of a strong manufacturing nation, a powerful network country, and a digital China.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology places great importance on the development of 5G public mobile communications.It has cumulatively permitted four basic telecom operators to use radio frequency resources with a total bandwidth of 1109MHz for public mobile communications, of which 86.5% can be used for 5G.
