At the China 5G Development Conference held on December 12, China Unicom's Deputy General Manager Hao Yiqian revealed in his speech that China Unicom has cumulatively developed over 40,000 commercial 5G application projects and more than 6,000 5G factories. The company serves over 15,000 customers with 5G private networks, covering 80 major categories of the national economy. This effort promotes the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy and accelerates the development of 5G.
In terms of network infrastructure, China Unicom has cumulatively launched 2.19 million 5G base stations, including 1.39 million mid-band stations and 800,000 low-band stations. This has created a ubiquitous ultra-fast experience with downlink speeds exceeding 5Gbps and uplink speeds over 1Gbps, ensuring optimal coverage and capacity of the 5G network. More than 100 cities have implemented the commercial deployment of 5G-A key capabilities such as RedCap, 3CC carrier aggregation, and uRLLC. The company is actively engaged in research and networking experiments for 6G technologies, including high-frequency communication, intelligent metasurfaces, and integrated sensing and computing.
In terms of computing network infrastructure, China Unicom is fully supporting the national East-to-West Computing Project, enhancing the integrated layout of cloud, network, and edge. It has established a "1+N+X" intelligent computing hierarchical layout characterized by hotspot concentration, cross-regional influence, and edge coverage. With mega computing centers such as those in Lingang, Shanghai, and Hohhot, the total intelligent computing power across the network reaches 10 EFLOPS. The company has developed a high-performance intelligent computing internet (AINet) and the advanced computing scheduling platform "Xingluo" to meet corporate training needs.
