At the China 5G Development Conference held today, Zhang Dong, Vice President of China Mobile Group, delivered a speech. He pointed out that since the commercialization of 5G in 2019, China Mobile has implemented the 5G+ action plan, promoting 5G as a new symbol of China's technological self-reliance and strength, and helping achieve new economic development outcomes.
China Mobile is committed to leading in 5G innovation, striving to lay a solid foundation for the digital transformation of various industries. It aims to extend 5G networks to the highest peaks, deep mines, islands, and border areas. China Mobile was the first to build a large-scale 5G network, with approximately 2.4 million 5G base stations, accounting for one-third of the global total, achieving continuous coverage in towns and above, with an administrative village coverage rate exceeding 90% and a population coverage rate of 96%. Additionally, China Mobile has fully upgraded to a lightweight, simplified 5G-A network. In March, it globally launched the commercial use of 5G-A, leading the large-scale deployment of RedCap, achieving continuous coverage in county-level cities and above, and actively integrating RedCap into traffic, campuses, and both private and public networks. Furthermore, China Mobile has innovatively introduced more robust features in the 5G-A network, focusing on key technologies such as integrated sensing, passive IoT, wireless AI applications, and deterministic networks, creating a differentiated network advantage with stable, reliable, and high-speed ubiquitous connections.
With the goal of promoting the integrated development of the digital and real economies, China Mobile continues to push 5G to "invigorate industries, integrate into various sectors, enter thousands of households." This includes actively promoting 5G to widely serve people's exciting lives. As of now, special services like 5G messaging and 5G new calls have been fully promoted. Customers with 5G packages have exceeded 780 million, and 5G network customers have surpassed 544 million. There are more than 17 5G products with over 100 million users. The company also accelerates the deep integration of 5G into economic and social development, having created over 46,000 5G+ industry application practices, covering 80 of the 97 national economic categories, leading development across multiple industries.
China Mobile continues to play its role as a leader in modern mobile information industry chains, actively promoting the integration of 5G technology innovation with industrial synergy, resulting in numerous innovative achievements. China Mobile is continuously expanding its 5G network, organizing and leading the integration of upstream and downstream industry chains and the development of enterprises of all sizes, with over 300,000 industry chain partners. This builds an open, inclusive, equitable, and mutually beneficial industrial cooperation ecosystem. China Mobile continuously introduces 5G-A technical innovations, developing China's first reconfigurable 5G RF transceiver commercial chip, the Feng 8676, leading international 5G standard projects and patent applications, consistently ranking in the top tier among global operators. The company's leadership in key technologies and engineering applications of the fifth-generation mobile communications won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, First Prize. Moreover, China Mobile is proactively laying out plans for 6G research, serving as the main reporter for the world's first 3GPP project on 6G scenarios and requirements, marking the formal entry of global 6G standardization work into the implementation phase.
