On January 3, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the operational analysis report for the domestic mobile phone market for November 2024: In November 2024, the domestic market shipped 29.606 million mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%. Among them, 5G phones accounted for 27.319 million units, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%, representing 92.3% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period.
From January to November 2024, the domestic market shipped 280 million mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Among these, 5G phones accounted for 241 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.0%, representing 86.2% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period. There were 393 new mobile phone models launched in the domestic market, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%. Among them, 5G phones accounted for 202 models, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%, representing 51.4% of the new models launched during the same period. Domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 238 million units, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%, accounting for 85.1% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period. There were 369 new models from domestic brands, a year-on-year decrease of 2.9%, representing 93.9% of the new models launched during the same period. Smartphone shipments were 262 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, representing 93.7% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period. There were 270 new smartphone models launched, a year-on-year decrease of 19.9%, representing 68.7% of the new models launched during the same period.
In November 2024, 40 new mobile phone models were launched in the domestic market, a year-on-year increase of 33.3%. Among them, 16 were 5G phones, a year-on-year decrease of 15.8%, representing 40.0% of the new models launched during the same period. Domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 26.571 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, accounting for 89.7% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period. There were 38 new models from domestic brands, a year-on-year increase of 58.3%, representing 95.0% of the new models launched during the same period. Smartphone shipments were 28.193 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%, representing 95.2% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period. There were 23 new smartphone models launched, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, representing 57.5% of the new models launched during the same period.
