Network Latency between the eastern and western hub nodes basically meets the requirement of 20ms

Updated:2024/7/26 17:40

In February 2022, China initiated the construction of national computing hub nodes in eight locations: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chengdu-Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Gansu, and Ningxia. It also planned 10 national data center clusters and officially launched the "Eastern Data, Western Computing" project.

At the "Promoting High-Quality Development" series press conference held by the State Council Information Office today, Du Wei, Director of the Department of Digital Technology and Infrastructure Development of the National Data Bureau, provided the latest updates on hotspots such as the "Eastern Data, Western Computing" project in response to media inquiries.

Du Wei pointed out that as of the end of March this year, the total computing power of the 10 national data center clusters exceeded 1.46 million standard racks, with an overall utilization rate of 62.72%, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to 2022. The network latency between the eastern and western hub nodes has basically met the 20ms requirement. The proportion of green electricity used in data centers has surpassed the national average level, with some advanced data centers achieving a green electricity usage rate of around 80%. The lowest Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of newly built data centers has decreased to 1.10.

Moreover, the implementation of the "Eastern Data, Western Computing" project has driven the development of industrial chains such as IT equipment manufacturing, information communication, basic software, and green energy, enhancing the overall computing power level of the country.
