BAQIS Releases "Large-Scale Quantum Cloud Computing Cluster"

Updated:2024/4/30 10:44

On April 25th, at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting, the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences, in collaboration with the Institute of Physics in Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, announced their latest achievement, the "Large-Scale Quantum Cloud Computing Cluster". This is one of the top ten achievements announced at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting.

Previously, at the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum, the aforementioned institutions jointly launched the quantum computing cloud platform "Quafu", which stands for "quantum future". "Quafu" has deployed three superconducting quantum chips with 136, 18, and 10 quantum bits respectively, for users of the cloud platform to choose from. The platform's control and readout accuracy exceeds 98%, enabling global entanglement of 18 quantum bits, reaching an international advanced level.

It is reported that "Quafu" has executed over 3 million tasks in the past year.

The newly launched "Large-Scale Quantum Cloud Computing Cluster" is an upgraded version of "Quafu", with a physical qubit count of over 590 and an average two-qubit gate fidelity of over 97%. The highest fidelity chip reaches 99%, and its overall performance ranks among the international leaders.

It includes five superconducting quantum chips with over 100 qubits, named after mountains in the northern region and its surroundings, such as "Baihua" (hundred flowers), "Yunmeng" (cloud-covered), "Haituo" (sea tower), etc.

Dr. Jin Yirong, a researcher at the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences, explained that the quantum cloud computing cluster has made significant improvements in the quantum hardware, adopting a tunable coupling architecture and enhancing the stability and consistency of chip fabrication processes. Multiple improvements have also been made to measurement and control circuits and electronic devices, greatly improving the signal quality, integration, and reliability of the measurement and control system. On the software side, the quantum compiler optimizer has been upgraded, and a more user-friendly interaction system, Quarkstudio, has been developed.
