According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the cumulative production of fiber optic cables in the first three quarters of 2023 reached 246 million fiber-kilometers, representing a year-on-year decrease of 7.7%.
In the first three quarters of this year, China Mobile and China Telecom successively completed the centralized procurement of conventional fiber optic cables and outdoor fiber optic cables. China Mobile also carried out centralized procurement of skeleton ribbon cables and butterfly cables, while China Telecom conducted centralized procurement of introduced fiber optic cables and other projects. In addition, to promote the commercialization of the 400G backbone network, both China Mobile and China Telecom conducted centralized procurement of trunk cables represented by G.654E fiber optic cables.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of September, the total length of fiber optic cable lines in the country reached 63.1 million kilometers, with a net increase of 3.517 million kilometers compared to the end of the previous year. Among them, access network fiber optic cables, local network relay fiber optic cables, and long-haul fiber optic cable lines accounted for 62.3%, 35.9%, and 1.8% respectively.
