He Gang, the smartphone product line president of Huawei consumer business group, revealed that Huawei has delivered 100 million smartphones as of May 30 in 2019.
The company’s shipment of smartphones repeatedly set new all-time highs after it first exceeded 100 million in 2015. Moreover, it now takes less time to reach 100 million shipments. Huawei delivered the same number of phones in 254 days in 2017 and in 198 days in 2018. But this year, it reached the 100 million mark in just 149 days.
Nowadays, Huawei is facing huge challenges under the weight of the US government. In a “Coffee Dialogue” with two famous American scholars, Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei said that “the maximum drop (of smartphone sales) outside China was 40%. But the sales are recovering rapidly in recent days, and the range of sales drop has been narrowed to 20%.” It is not an easy job to achieve the feat in a big crisis. The company’s excellent performance raises hopes again for the goal of 250 million annual shipments that Huawei set at the beginning of 2019.
