Recently, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the "January 2025 Domestic Mobile Phone Market Operation Analysis Report". According to the report, January saw a total of 27.243 million mobile phones shipped in the domestic market, marking a 14.3% decline compared to the previous year. Of these, 5G mobile phones accounted for 23.638 million units, representing a 9.7% drop year-on-year but still comprising 86.8% of total shipments.
The same period witnessed the introduction of 36 new mobile phone models, reflecting a 16.1% increase from the previous year. Among these, 21 were 5G models, showing a substantial 90.9% growth year-on-year and making up 58.3% of all new models launched.
Domestic brands shipped 22.845 million units, a 12.9% decrease from the previous year, yet they accounted for 83.9% of January's total shipments. Additionally, 35 new models were introduced by domestic brands, an increase of 25.0% year-on-year, constituting 97.2% of all new models launched during that period.
In the realm of smartphones, shipments totaled 24.506 million units, a 17.0% year-on-year decrease, but they represented 90.0% of the total mobile phone shipments. Meanwhile, 25 new smartphone models were launched, marking a 31.6% increase from the previous year, accounting for 69.4% of all new models introduced.
