It’s reported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that the construction of 5G base stations has been steadily advancing since the beginning of this year. By the end of February, the total number of 5G base stations has reached 1.506 million, accounting for 15% of the total number of mobile base stations. Specifically, 81,000 5G base stations were newly built from January to February.
By the end of February, the number of Internet broadband access ports has reached 1.026 billion across the country, a net increase of 8.56 million over the end of the previous year. Specifically, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH/O) ports reached 973 million, a net increase of 12.6 million over the end of the previous year, and the proportion has increased from 94.3% at the end of the previous year to 94.8%. By the end of February, the number of 10G PON ports with a gigabit network service capability has reached 8.41 million, a net increase of 549,000 over the end of the previous year.
