The accelerated growth of the global IoT has opened up trillions of dollars space, and the connection value will be honored. According to the “White Paper on the Development of China's 5G Industry and Applications” published by CCID (hereinafter referred to as “White Paper”), it is estimated that by 2025, the connections of IoT in China will reach 5.38 billion, and the number of 5G IoT connections will reach 3.93 billion.
The characteristics of the 5G that with the open architecture has provided possibilities for IoT and it also can promote the integrated development of multiple industries, which will accelerate the promotion of the IoT’s marketing scale. At the same time, operators have begun to arrange the domestic market of IoT, to lay a good foundation for the expansion of 5G. CCID estimated that IoT connections directly driven by 5G from 2020 to 2025 would reach 12.45 billion.
With the approach of 5G’s commercial use, IoT is in a period of continuous growth, which indicates that an intelligent interconnection era in a global scale is coming. As an emerging application in the communication industry, the IoT will continue to expand under the general trend of the IoT. With the improvement of industry standards, continuous advancement of technology, and the support from the government, China's IoT industry has shown a good momentum of development, providing a new impetus for sustained and stable economic growth.
The tide of expansion from the Mobile Internet to the Internet of Things will enable China to create greater market space and more industrial opportunities than the Internet era. In 2017, IoT connections reached 1.21 billion, with an increase of 65.8% year-on-year. CCID predicts that by 2025, IoT connections in China will reach 5.38 billion, of which the number of 5G IoT connections will reach 3.93 billion.
