EU not to Take Interim Measures on Optical Fibers and Cables from China

Updated:2021/4/28 11:54

According to China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), on April 23 local time, the European Commission announced that, in view of the technical complexity of the case, it decides not to take interim measures for the anti-dumping investigation concerning optical fibers and cables from China. It is reported that the products involved are single-mode optical fiber and cable.

On September 24, 2020, the European Commission released the announcement that as applied for by the EU domestic industry association Europacable, it officially launched the anti-dumping investigation concerning the single-mode optical cable products imported from China (not including active optical cable and submarine optical cable). European manufacturers believed that the products were sold at an artificially low price in the European market.

It is also reported that the cycle of the EU anti-dumping investigation is as long as 15 months, while the temporary duties may be applied within 8 months. Therefore, the EU’s decision to not take interim measures for the anti-dumping investigation concerning optical fibers and cables from China means that they won’t increase temporary duties within the cycle of the anti-dumping investigation. According to CCCME, it will follow up the case and provide respondent instruction and industry defense-related support.
