The British mobile communications operator Three announced to launch the E586MiFi wireless router produced by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider.
Driven by battery, this router can be applied to distribution of mobile broadband 3G service on a Wi-Fi connection. Three declared that E586 will be the first mobile Wi-Fi equipment launched in Britain, which targets at HSPA and technology of the next generation. It is declared that the download and upload speed of the router can reach up to 21.2Mbps and 5.76Mbps, respectively, 40% higher than wireless speed.
Ofcom, the regulator for the UK communications industries, pointed out in a report that the average download speed for mobile broadband is only 1.5Mbps in Britain, off from fine 3G transmission speed of 2.1Mbps. Although the existing HSPA technology can promise the transmission speed of 14.4Mbps theoretically, the actual speed is much lower than expected.
