Realme Announces Withdrawal from Chinese Market

Updated:2026/7/17 15:22

Yesterday, Xu Qi, Vice President of realme and President of its China operations, announced that the smartphone brand will suspend product updates in the Chinese market and officially exit the country.

Going forward, the company will consolidate all resources to focus on overseas markets, with an emphasis on performance and gaming segments to expand its global footprint.

Regarding after-sales service, Xu said that sales and warranty support for existing realme models will be fully taken over by OPPO’s official team. Users can directly access repair and maintenance services at any OPPO-authorized service center nationwide.

For system updates, realme users will be able to upgrade to the ColorOS system when the next-generation version is released and they receive the update prompt.

realme was founded in 2018 by Li Bingzhong, a former OPPO vice president. Shortly after its inception, the brand announced its official entry into the Indonesian and Vietnamese markets.

After operating independently for eight years, realme officially returned to the OPPO ecosystem earlier this year. In April, OPPO announced a major organizational restructuring, merging its two core sub-brands — OnePlus and realme — into a newly established sub-series business unit.
