According to a recent announcement by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC), it has entered into the Cooperation Framework Agreement on the SMIC Tianjin 12-inch Wafer Foundry Production Line Project with Tianjin Xiqing Economic Development Group Co., Ltd. and the Management Committee of Tianjin Xiqing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
According to the Cooperation Framework Agreement, the company plans to build the 12-inch wafer foundry production line project, the products of which will be used in communication, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, industry and other fields. The planned site is in XEDA Sci-Tech Park, Xiqing Development Zone. The planned capacity of the 12-inch wafer foundry production line is 100,000 pieces/ month, supporting foundry and technical services for technology nodes ranging from 28 nm to 180 nm.
In addition, SMIC will also establish a production-oriented independent legal person company "Xiqing New Company" in Xiqing Development Zone through its wholly-owned subsidiary. The new company will have a registered capital of USD 5 billion. The total investment in the project reaches USD 7.5 billion.
