On January 10, 2025, the National Science and Technology Management Information System Public Service Platform released the "Notice on Announcing the Results of the 2024 National Key Laboratory Restructuring and Expert Consultation Opinions." The restructuring of the national key laboratories for the year 2024 has been completed.
The restructuring of the national key laboratory system is a reallocation of national strategic resource investments. Universities, as a major force in technological innovation, are important supporting and building units for national key laboratories. According to incomplete statistics, there are over 250 national key laboratories publicly known.
Among them, many laboratories in the field of information and communication have been selected, such as the National Key Laboratory of Network and Switching Technology and the National Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communications at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Additionally, three companies—China Information and Communication Technologies Group Corporation (CICT), YOFC (Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company), and China Information Communication Technologies Group Corporation (CICT)—also have laboratories selected.
