The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the economic performance data of the telecommunications industry from January to November 2024.
According to the data, in terms of 5G network construction, by the end of November, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 4.191 million, a net increase of 815,000 from the end of the previous year. This accounts for 33.2% of all mobile base stations, an increase of 4.1 percentage points compared to the end of last year.
Regarding 5G users, by the end of November this year, the number of 5G mobile phone users in China reached 1.002 billion, a net increase of 180 million from the end of last year. This accounts for 56% of mobile phone users, an increase of 9.4 percentage points compared to the end of last year. This is a historic achievement for the telecommunications industry. 5G has become the dominant technology in China's mobile communications sector.
From the perspective of operators, the latest data from China Mobile shows that its 5G users have reached 547 million, with a 5G user penetration rate of 54.4%.
China Telecom and China Unicom have announced their "5G package users" data, with 349 million and 289 million users, respectively.
