Cao Ming, the vice president of HUAWEI’s wireless products, pointed out on the 5G NB-IoT 100-Million-Targeted Online Industry Summit that NB-IoT would achieve accelerated development with the momentum of new infrastructure construction closely linked with high-tech development and new IoT characterized by 5G.
Since the commercialization in the second half of 2017, the NB-IoT industry has witnessed strong and rapid development. The global users were approaching 70 million in November 2019; the number exceeded 100 million in January 2020; following that, China also made a breakthrough in NB-IoT users in February. This number marked that NB-IoT had stepped over the tipping point and entered a stage of explosive growth. As HUAWEI estimated, the global users will double by the end of 2020.
