Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the economic performance of the communication industry from January to May 2023.
According to the data, the three major telecom operators generated a revenue of 106.6 billion yuan from internet broadband services from January to May, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%, accounting for 15% of the total telecom revenue and driving a 0.9 percentage point increase in telecom revenue growth.
As of the end of May, the total number of fixed internet broadband access users for the three basic telecom enterprises reached 611 million households, a net increase of 21.43 million households from the end of the previous year. Among them, the fixed internet broadband access users with a speed of 100Mbps or above reached 574 million households, accounting for 94% of the total number of users. The fixed internet broadband access users with a speed of 1000Mbps or above reached 121 million households, accounting for 19.8% of the total number of users, a net increase of 29.55 million households from the end of the previous year.
The construction of gigabit fiber optic broadband networks is accelerating. As of the end of May, the number of internet broadband access ports nationwide reached 1.1 billion, a net increase of 29.96 million from the end of the previous year. Among them, the fiber optic access (FTTH/O) ports reached 1.06 billion, a net increase of 32.74 million from the end of the previous year, accounting for 96.1% of the internet broadband access ports, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the end of the previous year. As of the end of May, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capability reached 19.54 million, a net increase of 4.307 million from the end of the previous year.
