Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported on the development of telecommunication users in China. The scale of mobile phone users is stable and shows an increase. The proportion of 5G users is increasing. By the end of November, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises reached 1.684 billion, showing a net increase of 41.49 million over the end of the previous year. The users of 5G mobile phone users reached 542 million, showing a net increase of 187 million over the end of the previous year, accounting for 32.2% of mobile phone users. The proportion is 1.1% higher than that in January - October.
Meanwhile, the pace of “the number of device connections exceeding the number of people connections” continues to increase; and the number of IPTV users is increasing steadily. As of the end of November, the three basic telecommunications enterprises have developed 1.818 billion Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) end users, showing a net increase of 421 million over the end of the previous year. This number is 134 million greater than that of mobile phone users and accounts for up to 51.9% of the number of mobile network terminal connections (including mobile phone users and CIoT end users). The total number of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) users reached 376 million, showing a net increase of 27.05 million over the end of previous year.
Besides, the number of fixed broadband access users showed a steady increase. The scale of Gigabit users continued to increase. By the end of November, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises reached 587 million, showing a net increase of 51.17 million over the end of the previous year. The number of fixed Internet broadband access users with an access rate of 100 Mbps or above reached 551 million, accounting for 93.9% of the total number of users. The number of fixed Internet broadband access users with an access rate of 1000 Mbps or above reached 87.07 million, showing a net increase of 52.48 million over the end of the previous year and accounting for 14.8% of the total number of users. The proportion is 0.9% higher than that in January - October.
