China Unicom: 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz Should Be IoT Standards in China

Updated:2017/9/15 11:03

MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic China), China's three major state-run operators and the telecom industry chain made a comprehensive interpretation of NB-IoT future development at the NB-IoT Industry Summit held recently in Wuxi.

China Unicom General Manager Lu Yimin pointed out last month that the company is promoting the standardization, large scale, opening of the dual-frequency modules (900/1800 MHz) and the standardization of all-frequency IoT modules with reference to the promotion experience of all-mode mobile phone.

Industry insiders consider it as a talk to China Telecom about standard joint setting for great say of IoT spectrum. On one hand, China Telecom cast its lot with China Unicom; On the other hand, China Unicom wants something in the 1800MHz because it owns only 6M spectrum in the 900MHz band for historical reasons.
